Prologue to Discovery (The Eastern Legacy)

Three CDs or audiocassettes in one package will cover:

Part One:
Jefferson's Vision, Monticello and Albemarle County, VA. 1750 - 1803
The Monticello area driving tour will focus on Thomas Jefferson's vision, the early planning stages of the expedition, the scientific and cultural knowledge gathered in advance of deploying the expedition, and will provide personal interpretation of area landmarks. The importance of respect for private property will be stressed, as much of the actual ground traveled in this area is now privately held.

Part Two:

Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Harpers Ferry, 1802 - 1803
Meriwether Lewis' intense course in medicine, botany, geology, astronomy, navigation and other sciences, plus early recruitments, special equipment designs (Keelboat, air-gun, etc) and the Louisiana Purchase.

Part Three:
The Falls of the Ohio 1803
William Clark's history in Kentucky and Ohio, the stories of the "Nine Young Men from Kentucky," Lewis' trip down the Ohio River and the many impediments to his even getting to the first winter camp of the Corps of Northwestern Discovery.
