Over a thousand personal vehicles enter the Olympic through this gateway each day in the busy summer months. The driving time up to Hurricane Ridge and back is a little over an hour under normal conditions. There are many features to interpret, the forces of nature are clearly visible in the vistas, forests and rock walls. There are the explorers stories as well as the old stories of the native Americans who lived here for hundreds of generations prior to "discovery" in the late 18th century.
